We're not writing this post to be rude. I'd like to start with that. We are writing this post because we'd like to help you understand what you're asking when you ask us that. Love, performing artist, tradespeople, and beyond.
First and Foremost, Ask Yourself. "Do I Get Paid By What I Do In an Hour?"
The answer is "no". When you go to work, you are paid an hourly rate for the work regardless of what tasks you complete in that hour. Imagine if your boss told you he didn't need you to write a proposal one day and took $20 off of your hourly rate for it. You'd be livid. That's what you're asking us to do when you ask us for the same amount of time and one less activity. We are still working the entire time and entertaining the entire time regardless of what activities we do.
This does not, however, apply to things that are material such as: Tiara Add on's, table settings, etc. These are inanimate items that add to cost, but are not paid for their physical work.
If You Want a Service Cheaper Than What Who You're Talking to Offers, It's Better That You Book a Cheaper Company
Entertainment is not a physical product, it's a use of someone's physical energy and time. At Jersey City Party Characters we are structured to offer excellent entertainment at an excellent price. Every entertainment company sets their prices at a rate they need to keep the business going and getting better. If we haggled with you, you'd get the service you haggled for. No one is going to give you their all when you're paying them less than everyone else and showing them that they won't be paid fairly for their work.
Entertainment is Highly Skilled Labor If It's Being Done Right
There's a reason you didn't ask your niece to put on an Amazon Elsa costume and do the party for 50 bucks. Character entertainers must have acting talent, vocal talent, charisma, they have to be great with kids, and they have to look the part. The performers that are great, know they are great, and they prioritize their time. You hear the horror stories of "crack head Elsa", "white Moana", and more because someone decided to book with the cheapest company and got the cheapest performer. That's not to say that the most expensive company is your best bet, but a good company knows their worth and will not haggle down the cost of their time with you
